Global food prices at the highest level since a year and a half
It announced that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), said Thursday that global food prices rose in August, the highest level since May 2015, led by dairy, oils and sugar products.
Scored FAO food price index, which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, vegetable oil, dairy products, meat and sugar 165.6 points in August, up 1.9 percent from the previous month. The total height of the index of about seven percent from August of last year.
FAO raised its forecast for agriculture and global grain production in the 2016-2017 season to 2.566 billion tons, including more than 40 million tons compared with 2015.
